My mom came to visit us in Michigan last week so we decided to explore the area a bit. When I was about 9 years old I visited Niagara Falls with my brothers and sisters and have wanted to go back ever since. It's only about a 5 hour drive from Ann Arbor if you go through Canada so we made a plan to drive there this week. Unfortunately, my mom doesn't have a valid passport so we had to head South around Lake Erie to get there and that added an hour to our trip. Luckily we were able to drive through Toledo, Cleveland and Buffalo to get there though so we felt like we were able to see so many wonderful things. I was driving for most of the trip so I only have a few pictures to share but here is what I do have....
We stopped at a place called The West Side Market in Cleveland for lunch on our way to Niagara. It was an incredible place with little food booths like the one above with everything you can imagine from seafood, to bagels, pastries, fruit, ethnic foods, candies and more. The only down side was that McKenna kept running off and hiding behind counters and everytime I would yell her name to stay close my voice would echo throughout this huge train station type building. So embarrassing. This is my mom and McKenna buying bagels.
These are the fruit and vegetable stands.

We finally made it to Niagara Falls about 2 1/2 hours before sunset and since the weather was gorgeous we walked all through the park to see the Bridal Falls, American Falls and Horseshoe Falls. The tall buildings in this shot are just across the gorge in Canada.
This is the pedestrian bridge that you take to the horseshoe falls.
You can see the mist in this shot of the water from the falls.
So glad I got to see this again. Breathtaking.
After the water comes down the falls it goes out of the gorge via this river.
Cool building on the Canada side.
Horseshoe Falls
I couldn't get a very good view from our side of the falls.
Beautiful suset
